Lakeridge’s Cultural Arts Committee proudly announces the beginning of a wonderful series of artistic opportunities for all residents. All classes are at the Ski Lodge unless otherwise noted. Life Drawing: Lesson by lesson, drawing skills are developed and then applied to Life Drawing. Susan Strauss Portrait Artist /College Instructor welcomes Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced students. Attend regularly, try hard and you will be amazed at how you improve. $10 per class for first few weeks, then $15 weekly to include models fee. Supply list provided upon registration. Weekend Watercolor Workshop for Beginners: Paint the LR Landscape. Taught by noted artist and master teacher, Gay Schemp. Learn the basics of this fabulous art in one weekend. All supplies provided. Come, learn, and enjoy! $200 weekend.

Photography Workshop: Taught by Carl Meisel, a photographer and computer guru. Learn how to download and enhance images, create slide shows and photo collages and much more with PICASSA. Pottery Classes: Northwestern Connecticut Community College
July 13-August 24 Classes Wednesday and Thursday nights 6:30 – 9:30 pm Fee: $159. Requirements: 25 lb bag clay, apron or towel, basic pottery tool kit. All available at the bookstore or Sheffield Pottery. Glaze and firings provided. Wednesday class is instruction with hands on work. Thursday class is studio only (optional). The West Lodge has registration forms for those interested. (No classes Aug. 17 & 18).
Whitting Mills
July 9 – August 27 Classes given Saturday mornings 10:00 am -12:00 p.m.; Saturday afternoons,1 to 3 pm Fee: $195 Requirements: Vicky Hancock (instructor) will provide 25 lbs of clay, glazes, tools and will fire all works. Film Night:
Led by our own Joanna Langfield Rose, a noted film critic. We will have monthly film nights where thought-provoking films will be shown leading to interesting and insightful discussion. First film: GREENBERG. No charge. Sign up at the West Lodge, 860-482-9463.

Craft Circle: Led by our own talented Carol Simon. This group meets every Monday at 1:30pm. Whether you bead, knit, crochet or would like to learn any of these or other crafts, you’re welcome to join this group.
Silk Scarf Tie-Dying: Cynthia Yanok Rich, owner of “Hither & & Yarn will give a class on “Tie-dying” on silk scarves. Come and make your own design! Cost is $35.00 – materials included. Class is limited to 15. Please call the West Lodge, 860-482-9463, to sign up.
